We have been lucky since starting Mashallah News to collaborate with interesting people – and we have also received grants and awards. These are the main highlights:
Grants
Mashallah News was one of 11 projects selected to receive the Ebticar-Media grant supporting innovative online media platforms in the Arab world. Ebticar is financed by the European Union and by the French operator in media cooperation, CFI, as well as other partners, including Babelmed (Italy), FEI (France), Anna Lindh Foundation (Egypt) and Samir Kassir Foundation (Lebanon).
Awards
In 2014, we were nominated for the to the Prix Ars Electronica award in the category of Digital Communities. We were also selected for the 4M Mashreq programme, a supportive training for emerging online media projects in the Levant.
Sophie Chamas, former co-editor of Mashallah News, won the Anna Lindh Mediterranean Journalist Award 2012, in the “New Media” section, for her article “Ani mi Levanon”. In the same contest, our contributor Amani Massoud, was also nominated.
In 2011, we won the World Summit Youth Award in the culture category.
